Bike Rentals In Playa del carmen 2023

Playa del Carmen Bike Rentals

Bike rentals in Playa del Carmen offer visitors a fun and convenient way to explore the city’s beaches, parks, and attractions. Whether you’re an experienced cyclist or a casual rider, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on two wheels in this beautiful coastal destination.

There are several bike rental companies in Playa del Carmen, making it easy to find a bike that fits your needs and budget. Some companies offer traditional bikes, while others have electric bikes or even tandem bikes available for rent. Most rental shops charge by the hour or day, with discounts available for longer rentals.

One of the most available options is the Biciplaya self service bikes, provided by the city, but they are really only available in Playa centro and have many negative reviews for customer service online.

Here’s a review found on Google that explains the advantages and disadvantages of downloading the app and hiring a city bike in Playa:

” This will give me an opportunity to explain the advantages and disadvantages of my service and the Biciplaya service. First of all, your two-star review based only on my one day/24-hour price is a bit harsh, in my opinion since my bike service is much different than theirs which has many limitations and restrictions. For example, only being able to use their bikes for 30 minutes at a time or getting your credit card charged if you do not return their bikes to a docking station.

The service area of their bikes is also quite limited and you will not be able to bring the bikes back to your condo or hotel or inside playacar, which for many people does not work at all for the way that they would like to use the bikes or the places where they are staying or would like to go.
If you rent one of their bikes and you do not return it to a docking station within 30 minutes the price will be much more expensive than 260 pesos. I have heard 700 pesos or more for half a day use.

Because a lot of people don’t understand this way they do their billing and the limitations and restrictions of their service I feel that this is a bit of a scam for people. Many tourists pay for the service without understanding their rules and then once they realize they won’t be able to use it for their needs it’s too late.

They end up returning the bikes to a docking station having wasted their money and time and looking for other options. I have also heard and read about many stories of people’s credit cards continuing to be billed even after they canceled the service. You can look up the reviews online especially about their app. They have a one-star review in many places.

Another disadvantage of their service is that each individual has to register with an ID and credit card through their app and it requires an active data connection on your phone. This is very inconvenient for families and groups who would like one person to pay for the bikes or for people who are turning off their data service and only using Wi-Fi while on vacation. Their one size fits all bikes are also not a good fit for tall people and they do not have children’s bikes, child seats or kids trailers like I do which is popular and important to many customers.

I also have a special price for weekly and longer rentals starting at 800 pesos per week which includes delivery and pick up service in Playa Centro.
So you can see that our services and bikes are very different so it’s really not a fair comparison based only on the one-day rate especially because they’re advertised price is very misleading and not transparent. If you only want to use bikes for a a few hours for 30 minutes at a time, and you are staying in the center of playa where there are docking stations then their bikes could work for you.

But if you’d like to unplug from The Matrix and explore places outside of the tourist center, if you’d like a family friendly way to commute around playa for shopping, co-working and dining out without the hidden fees, limits and restrictions give us a call and find out more.”
